Last year scientists took to the streets for the first time to defend excellent Czech science. Now, women and men scientists are coming back to the public space to present their faces and personal messages.
The exhibit opened on Thursday, 21 October 2010 at 16:00 on Na Příkopech Street (between Můstek and Black Rose Passageway). The exhibit lasts until 3 November 2010.

On 6 October 2010 the Forum Science Is Alive! organised a panel discussion “Research and Innovations: Allies or Rivals?” with panellists representing the innovation industry, academic research, specialists in the Czech entrepreneurial environment and foreign experts dealing with research, development and innovations assessment.

In an open letter the civic association Forum Science Is Alive! asks Prime Minister Nečas about his attitude to the pressing issues of Czech science policy and its strategy. “Prime Minister Nečas’s cabinet has declared support for research and development to be one of its priorities. Despite this, the cabinet has not addressed these issues yet,” says Martin Krummholz, chairman of the civic association Forum Is Alive!

Prague, 6 May 2010 – Civic Association Forum Science Is Alive! invites you to a public event titled Minister of Education Industry!, organised on Tuesday, 11 May 2010. The goal of the happening is to point to the negative role Minister of Education Miroslava Kopicová has played for the past three years in terms of the relationship of the State to Czech science.
On Monday 3 May 2010 the cabinet of the Czech Republic was, finally, to debate the new composition of the Council for Research, Development and Innovation (CRDI). According to the portal Aktuálně.cz Minister of Education Kopicová, however, initiated a withdrawal of this item from the agenda. The reason for her intervention was allegedly the insufficient involvement of industry representatives in this advisory body to the government.

“SCIENCE IN SOCIETY – WILL CZECH SCIENCE SURVIVE THE 2010 ELECTIONS?”
You can get an answer to this question at a discussion afternoon of the same title, dedicated to the perspectives of Czech science, organised by civic society Forum Science Is Alive! In a unique format of a panel discussion followed by “speed” dates one-on-one, representatives of political parties and prominent Czech scientists will discuss in the presence of the general public. The event will be held on Saturday, 24 April 2010 at 15:00 at the Archa Theatre.
A debate on the methodology of research result assessment took place on Monday 19 April 2010. The debate was organised by the initiative I Can’t Take It Any Longer. The panel discussion featured Dr. Tereza Stöckelová (Institute of Sociology of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic), Prof. Ivan Wilhelm (Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University, governmental Commissioner for European Research) and Prof. Zdeněk Němeček (dean, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics).
Civic society Forum Science Is Alive! considers the new draft of the Methodology for Assessing Research Organisation Results and Assessment of Results of Completed Programmes, which is to be in effect between 2010 and 2012, to be completely flawed.
